2026–2029

Development of a permanent observatory to analyse trends and skills demanded of managers in the tertiary sector from online job advertisements, applying Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics methodologies to support policy-making and continuous professional development. Commissioned by the Centro di Formazione Management del Terziario (CFMT).

2025–2029

Development and maintenance of scalable, automated pipelines for the acquisition, normalisation, and processing of large volumes of web content within the Web Intelligence Hub, integrating information extraction, semantic analysis, classification, explainability, and data quality control procedures to support the production of European statistics. Realised by a consortium of the University of Milano-Bicocca and Lightcast, coordinated by Bicocca-CRISP. Commissioned by the European Commission (DG Eurostat) in collaboration with Cedefop. Budget: €3M over four years.

2026–2027

A two-component project: development of a predictive model integrating meteorological observations from ARPA Lombardia, military aeronautics modelling data, and Vittoria Assicurazioni's historical claims database for risk mapping and event forecasting; and implementation of a conversational explanation system (ConvXAI) to make model decisions interpretable to users at different expertise levels. Commissioned by Vittoria Assicurazioni S.p.A.

2023–2026

Age-It is a national research initiative funded under the Italian PNRR programme that aims to transform Italy into an international scientific hub for ageing research. The project promotes interdisciplinary collaboration across socio-economic, biomedical, and technological domains to better understand the challenges and opportunities of demographic ageing and to support the development of an inclusive society for all ages. Within Age-It, I serve as Work Package Leader (WP6) in Spoke 1, which focuses on the demography of ageing, including fertility, family dynamics, migration, and longevity. In this role, I coordinate research activities aimed at collecting, organising, and analysing large-scale historical and real-time data to support policy and planning related to ageing.

2024–2025

Evolution of the 2022 prototype into an operational system for large-scale collection and processing of online job advertisements in the Basque Country, with functionality for semantic extraction and automated classification of skills according to the ESCO framework, to analyse labour market demand by occupation, identify emerging skill needs, and monitor their evolution over time. Commissioned by Lanbide – Servicio Vasco de Empleo (via Prospektiker S.A.).

2021–2024

Development of methods to assess the reliability of online job advertisements over time and realisation of a prototype based on graph databases and semantic relations derived from language model embeddings to analyse the productive value chains of European enterprises through web content processing. Part of the international consortium composed of CRISP–University of Milano-Bicocca, GOPA Consultants, and Burning Glass Europe. Commissioned by Eurostat and Cedefop. Budget: €3.7M over four years.

2022–2023

Design and development of a web-based prototype that analyses the demand for ESCO skills by occupation from online job advertisements published on major Basque Country job portals, and provides a self-assessment tool for users to evaluate their competencies. Commissioned by Lanbide – Servicio Vasco de Empleo (via Prospektiker S.A.).

2016–2020

Development of the European prototype for the analysis of online job advertisements and the identification of emerging professional needs and skills across 28 EU Member States. Realised by a consortium of Bicocca, Lightcast, and Copa Luxembourg, coordinated by Bicocca-CRISP. Commissioned by Cedefop. Budget: €920K over four years.
